our studio
How it Ends Studio (HIES) is an independent Providence-based production studio that's home to the How it Ends podcast. How it Ends is a multi-award-winning immersive mystery audio drama podcast distributed by Realm Podcast Network. The HIES team has also directed The Pit Below Paradise, a limited series for Rusty Quill’s Neon Inkwell anthology podcast, released in 2024.
Stephanie and Micah met by accident during the spring of 2017 and connected over their shared love of storytelling. Six months later, they formed How It Ends Studio.
HIES' approach to storytelling focuses on immersive narratives, diverse and relatable characters, authentic representation on and off air, real-world dynamics and themes, and realistic depictions of friendship, family dynamics, and mental health. The team's goal is for audiences to fall in step with the show's characters as they reminisce, scheme, plan, unravel, console, and embark on their journeys. The showrunners consistently keep listeners top-of-mind by encouraging direct participation in live performances and/or broadcasts of episodes, Alternate Reality Game (ARG) style clues and puzzles, and opportunities for listeners to become part of the fabric of their shows.

“I mean, it could be just simple synchronicities, you know? You’re putting it out into the world... sometimes the world gives something back.”
